 Oh Little Town of Bethlehemthough you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times." It has often been said that good things come in small packages. Bethlehem is a small town in Israel, yet God used her to bring forth His only Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. This Jesus would be the ruler of all Israel and ultimately the Savior of all those who put their faith and trust in Him. How can we as Christians be great in the sight of God? It is important for Christian parents to raise their children to serve the Lord and be a testimony of His marvelous love. Teaching our children the precepts and principles of God's Word and preparing them to live a life wholly dedicated to the Lord, should be the desire of every Christian parent. This task is not always easy and the road is often bumpy, but if we press on toward the goal, trusting in the Lord for wisdom, we will see the fruit of our labor. Many great men and women have come from humble beginnings. It was the faith of their fathers and the fervent prayers of their mothers that brought them to the place of greatness. Our Lord Jesus Christ came from humble beginnings. Born in a stable wrapped in rags, lying in an animals feed box, in a little town called Bethlehem, as foretold by the prophet Micah. Imagine a King and Savior born to such poverty. It was for our good that He became poor, willingly giving up His throne in heaven to live an ordinary life, that we might come to know Him and the riches He offers through Faith in His name. The next time you feel your parenting is small or unimportant, remember the baby, born in a manger, who grew up to die on a cross, so that you and your children could have eternal life for the asking.
