Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve. The lights are low. The fireplace glows. The family gathers around the tree. What is the meaning of this coming together of family on Christmas Eve? It's to Worship Him. The meaning of Christmas doesn't come in a box and is not tied up wih a bow. It doesn't come in the wonderful meal mom prepares for her family. The true meaning of Christmas comes from the wisdom of the Wisemen.

The wismen followed the star. It took them on a long journey to Bethlehem. May we travel back there; to when a child was born. Jesus was living in a house at the time the wisemen visited Him. They came bearing gifts for the new king of Israel. It was not, however the gifts that were important on this day. It was the reason they came. To Worship Him. These men were intelligent men who had traveled a long way to reach the place where the star stood. Though they marveled at the journey of a star in the sky, they were amazed by a small boy, whom they bowed down to worship. It is unclear whether they recognized His significance, but it is clear they responded to the Angel of the Lord when he told them to go back home another way.

Christmas isn't about gifts or family, or friends, or you. It's about Jesus. The One who came to save us from sin. May this Christmas be about more than packages and toys. May it be about worshipping Christ!

Say a prayer now. Thank Him and praise Him for what He has done for you. Have a time of worship with your family this Christmas Eve.
