Hi, my name is Michael and I'm four and a half years old. Welcome to my Christmas page. I would like to tell you a story about a little Jewish boy who lived in Bethlehem during the time of Jesus birth. His name was Michael too. One day little Michael and his Mom and Dad had to go on a long trip to a town in Israel called Bethlehem, to register for the census that was decreed by Caesar Augustus. He was the head guy who gave all the orders. Anyway, Michael's family traveled a long way to do this because they were law abiding citizens. My Dad says it's very important to obey the law. When they got to Bethlehem, it was very crowded and Michael's Mom was worried they would not find a place to stay. You know how Mom's are. They did find a nice room at the Bethlehem Inn. On the way to the Inn, Michael and his family saw a young girl on a donkey. His Mom said she was going to have a baby very soon. "A baby, Wow" Michael whispered. Little Michael thought babies were 'cool' because he was a 'big boy' now. "Daddy" said Michael " Yes, son?" answered his Daddy. "Daddy, where is that lady going to stay, I heard the Inn Keeper say there was no more room at the Inn?" said Michael "I don't know, son. I'm sure they'll find some place to stay tonight." said Daddy. "But, what if they don't?" asked Michael with concern on his little face. "Come on son, We must get to our room now, it's getting late," said Momma. Taking him by the hand his Momma led Michael to the Inn steps and into the building. This time Michael followed with reluctant obedience, and cast a glance at the young woman on the donkey, wondering about the baby she was going to have soon. Night fall came quickly and it was Michael's bedtime. He lay down to sleep, but was still wondering about the couple who were to have a new baby. After awhile little Michael fell asleep. Suddenly, in the middle of the night there was a commotion outside that awakened Michael. His parents slept on, but he could not. He got up and looked outside. The shepherds had come in from the fields and were shouting. People were running here and there. "What is going on?" Michael thought. So, he slipped out of the Inn unnoticed by his parents and followed the shouting and singing to a cave behind the Inn. As he worked his way through the crowd, he came upon the most intriguing sight he had ever had the pleasure to witness. There in the manger lay a tiny baby. Without thinking, Michael moved closer. A hand reached out to stop him, but the baby's mother motioned him to come alongside her. As he looked down at the baby, Mary the baby's mother said, " He is a king." "A king?" asked Michael timidly. "Yes, the Messiah." said Mary. "Messiah? -- The Messiah, our Messiah? " asked little Michael. Mary shook her head. "He's really the Savior?" asked Michael again. "Yes, whispered the baby's mother. His name is Jesus." ![]()
Michael stared down in wonder at the tiny king. Could it be true, could this tiny baby be Messiah? As he looked into the baby's eyes he saw more love than he had ever seen in anyone's eyes before. Yes, it was true. This tiny baby is Messiah. "Will anyone believe me when I tell them what and whom I saw in this small cave. Will they believe their Messiah lay asleep in a place where animals feed?" Michael wasn't sure. "Lots of people were making quite a fuss about this baby, maybe they will believe that what I saw is true." Michael thought. "Will Momma and Daddy believe their own small boy has seen Messiah?" "I have to tell them" thought Michael. But first he had to get a gift for the baby. "I must bring a gift to this special baby, but what?"Michael thought, "What does one give a king, the King?" Michael thought and thought. "I have no money to buy a gift and I am just a poor boy. I have nothing to give. Then Michael realized that this King, his Messiah is just a poor boy too. But He is Messiah and giving nothing simply wouldn't do. What can I give Him thought Michael again. Michael wandered back to the cave where the baby lay. He peeked in again to see the baby cradled in the cold wooden arms of the manger and it was then that Michael knew exactly what he could give the tiny King. He walked quietly over to where the child lay and looked at Mary. "I have no fancy gift to give Him." he said to the baby's mother apologetically. Looking down at the baby again, Michael knelt before the manger and peeked over the side. Here lay his Messiah, his Savior, the promised One. "Hi baby Jesus, he said, I have only one thing to give you. It's not fancy, it didn't cost a lot of money, and it won't keep you warm at night, but I hope it will be enough. Standing now, beside the manger, Michael reached down, touched the baby and said, "I give
you my heart." ![]() It is enough to give your heart to Jesus, for you see, your heart is all He wants. When baby Jesus grew up, He willingly gave up His life for you. He died on a cross for your sins and mine. It's as easy as ABC to give your heart Admit you are a sinner. Romans 3:23
